Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert kept his cool during an encounter with the hated Heat.
According to the New York Post, Gilbert had a close encounter with Miami Heat president Pat Riley and owner Micky Arison at Myles Chefetz's Prime 112 Steakhouse, a top Miami restaurant.
According to the report Riley and Arison dined with Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Friday night.
"Riley and Douglas arrived first and turned heads as they made their way through the restaurant. Zeta-Jones and the wives showed up 10 minutes later and were escorted to the table, but not without the entire restaurant noticing," a source told the Post. "Halfway through dinner, Riley and Arison got a surprise as Gilbert was seated at the next table."
After LeBron James left the Cavaliers for the Heat last year Gilbert publicly bashed James and the Heat. Gilbert was at least amused at the situation.
"(Gilbert) chuckled as he was seated, but he did go over to say hello," the source said. "It was very awkward. Gilbert went back to his table and no other words were exchanged."
In other Cavaliers news the team announced two promotions and two additions to their coaching team Monday.
With Paul Pressey remaining head coach Byron Scott's lead assistant, assistant coaches Jamahl Mosley and Joe Prunty were promoted and will now expand their roles and take on additional responsibilities.
Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant Scott also announced that assistant coach Nate Tibbetts and new player development assistant/video coach Aubrey McCreary will join the staff.
"I feel great about the coaching group we have in place now. Paul Pressey will continue to be my lead assistant, while Jamahl and Joe have both worked very hard, done a good job and deserved these promotions," Scott said.
"Nate comes from an organization that has developed a young core and a similar belief system in creating success with a defense-first mentality and Aubrey is an accomplished and respected player development coach that is going to be a great fit with all our coaches and our players. I am very excited for our group to get started with our team soon."
