The Los Angeles Lakers have a veteran core and expect to contend for an NBA title but that doesn't mean there aren't question marks surrounding them.

A new coach, a new offense and some holes in the roster are just some of the unknowns facing the Lakers entering the new season.

With aging Derek Fisher and Steve Blake the options at the point, the Lakers want to add a point guard before the season starts.

They will likely get their chance to do so via free agency or the "amnesty" clause that is expected to be included in the new labor deal that allows teams to waive a player without having to pay luxury taxes on his salary, or have his salary count toward the salary cap.

Cleveland point guard Baron Davis is on the Lakers' radar and is definitely a candidate to get cut by the Cavaliers. Davis has two years and $28.7 million left on his contract and the Cavs would likely love to get out from under that deal while the Lakers could add him for a much more reasonable salary.

Looking to bolster their long-range shooting, Los Angeles is also keeping an eye on forward Rashard Lewis to see if he gets waived by Washington.
