The Wolverines got a huge boost to their 2012 class Thursday night, when five-star prospect Mitch McGary announced his commitment to the University of Michigan.

It was made official on national television by the 6'10", 225-lb senior forward who is attending Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and is a native of Chesterton, Ind.

He left offers on the table from both Duke and Florida.

The long recruitment of McGary, the nation's No. 2 basketball recruit according to ESPNU's Top 100 and Scout.com, also saw the involvement of Maryland, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina for a significant time period.

The recruitment of McGary, regarded not only for his skills but also for his strength and toughness is a big addition for Michigan.

It gives head coach John Bellein his most talented class during his tenure at Michigan.

The commitment by McGary also puts the Wolverines at par with any class in the Big Ten in terms of incoming talent.

McGary joins four-star wing Glenn Robinson from Lake Central (St. John, IN.) and three-star shooting guard Nick Stauskas from St. Mark's School (Southborough, MA.) in the 2012 class.
