The Miami Heat are reportedly interested in acquiring restricted free-agent center Greg Oden despite their limited spending power, multiple sources reported Sunday.

In an effort to boost their frontline rotation, the Heat is aggressively searching for an ideal starting center capable of protecting the rim and becoming another option to the team's potent offense.

According to sources, the Heat is very much interested in offering Oden mid-level exception deal worth $5 million.

The Portland Trail Blazers, which selected Oden first overall in the 2007 NBA Draft, already offered the former Ohio State Buckeye star a one-year qualifying offer worth $8.9 million.

Hampered with several injuries in the past three seasons, Oden averaged 9.3 points, 7.3 boards, and 1.4 blocks in only 82 games.

Despite being injury-prone, Oden is still considered a must-have talent considering his vast upside.

The Heat is also interested in acquiring free-agent centers Samuel Dalembert and Nene although a number of teams are also on the run for the two stalwarts.
