Richard Howell doubled his season average with 22 points and North Carolina State burned the nets by connecting on 58.5 percent of its shots in a 79-65 win over San Diego State in a second-round NCAA Tourney game.
NC State was a No. 11 seed, while San Diego State was a No. 6.
Howell scored 15 of his points in the opening half, while Lorenzo Brown added 17 and C.J. Leslie chipped in with 15.
NC State's defense sparkled, holding the Aztecs to 38.7 percent shooting.
Jamaal Franklin led all scorers with 23 points, including 4 treys, though he shot just 6 of 15 overall.
