Quarterback Braxton Miller rushed for two touchdowns and threw a crucial touchdown pass late to power the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 35-23 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions Saturday at Beaver Stadium.
The Buckeyes preserved their immaculate record after nine games, thanks to another electrifying performance from their sophomore signal-caller.
Miller covered 143 yards on 7-for-19 passing with one TD and an interception. He also rushed for 134 yards with two scores.
Locked at 7-7 at the break, the Buckeyes came out strong in the second half as Ryan Shazier scored on a 17-yard interception return and Miller added two rushing TDs to give them a 28-10 lead going into the fourth.
Penn State quarterback Matthew McGloin tried to make the game interesting after getting the Nittany Lions within 28-16 on a two-yard pass to Matt Lehman 9:49 left.
However, Miller made sure there would be no come-from-behind win by the home team at Beaver Stadium Saturday night after hooking up with Jake Stoneburner for a 72-yard TD bomb.
McGloin threw another TD pass, but with barely a minute remaining, Ohio State went on to bag their ninth win of the season.
Penn State (5-3) saw their five-game winning streak and suffered their first loss in three Big Ten games. Ohio State (9-0) looks to keep their unblemished slate against Illinois Saturday.
