Boulder, CO
Matt Barkley threw for a school-record six TDs, and the USC Trojans capped an eventful week with a 42-17 crushing of the Colorado Buffaloes at Folsom Field.
Barkley, who also saved another TD with a tackle following his sole interception, completed 25-of-39 passes for 318 yards as Southern California bounced back from a heartbreaking triple-overtime loss to Stanford last Saturday.
Lane Kiffin was slapped with a hefty fine and received an unprecedented reprimand from the league after the USC head coach criticized officiating in last week's debilitating setback.
The Trojans had won three in a row heading into last weekend's primetime clash with the Cardinal.
After letting Colorado take an early 7-0 lead, Barkley led the Trojans 80 yards in seven plays to tie it 7-all. The junior signal-caller then put USC ahead 14-7 after hooking with tight end Xavier Grimble on a 5-yard strike.
The Trojans were up 28-10 at the break, with Barkley already tossing four of his TDs in the first half.
At 7:06 of the fourth period, Barkely shattered the school mark when he found Amir Carlislie that resulted into a 19-yard TD.
Barkley found his favorite targets -- Robert Woods and Marqise Lee, who each caught two of his TD passes. Woods and Lee combined for 254 yards and four TD on 18 catches in the victory.
Tyler Hansen connected on 17-of-37 passes for 250 yards and two TDs for the Buffaloes, who are still seeking their first Pac-12 win.
