Plaxico Burress, who served a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to weapons charges, has decided to resurrect his career with the New York Jets. The sides agreed on a one-year contract.

The deal with the former Super Bowl star of the New York Giants, who was released in June after 20 months in prison, is reportedly worth a little over $3 million guaranteed.

The agreement with the soon-to-be 34-year-old wide receiver came after the Jets lost out on the Nnamdi Asomugha sweepstakes.

With the arrival of Burress, the Jets could boast of having the best receiving corps in football. But that remains to be seen, with Burress still having to prove he make will an impact on the Jets offense.

Burress has not stepped onto a football field in over two years as the result of the self-inflicted gunshot wound to his right thigh in the controversial accidental shooting on November 2008 in a New York nightclub.

Burress was selected eighth overall in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers after a stellar career at Michigan State. After spending the first five seasons of his career with Pittsburgh, he joined the Giants in 2005.

He helped the Giants post an upset over the New England Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl by catching the game-winning touchdown.

Burress has registered 505 catches for 7,845 yards and 55 TD in his career.
