Brooklyn Nets Unveil New Logo

Brooklyn, NY

As New York rolls out the red carpet for its second NBA team, the Brooklyn Nets, the team has just unveiled the its new logo.

Designed by rapper icon Jay-Z , who also happens to be a part owner, the design is a simple black-and-white color scheme.

"The Brooklyn Nets logos are another step we've made to usher the organization into a new era. The boldness of the designs demonstrate the confidence we have in our new direction. Along with our move to Brooklyn and a state-of-the art arena, the new colors and logos are examples of our commitment to update and refine all aspects of the team, " Jay-Z said in a statement.

The Nets' black and white logo pays homage to the U.S.'s oldest New York subway signage system.

The first logo features an armor shield and the name "Nets" with the letter "B" inside a basketball and "Brooklyn" underneath.

The second features the letter "B" inside a basketball encircled by "Brooklyn New York."

The Brooklyn Nets crossed the bridge from New Jersey where the former Garden State team finished last in the Atlantic division with a 22-44 record.

The team's aim in moving to a new $1 billion arena is to snag some good players in the 2012 draft.
