2012 NBA Playoffs

Chicago, IL

The Chicago Bulls handled the Philadelphia 76ers 103-91 in an Eastern Conference playoff opener, but the victory came at a steep price as Derrick Rose injured himself late in the game.

The superstar guard came down awkwardly on his leg late in the contest and suffered a torn ACL.

Reports indicate Rose, who missed 27 games during the season due to turf toe, back spasms, pulled groin and foot injuries, will be out for the remainder of the playoffs.

"I hope he's not seriously hurt," 76ers coach Doug Collins said just after the game, according to ESPNChicago.com. "I admire him so much. I think he's one of the young, bright lights in this NBA. And I hope he's going to be back and he's going to be able to play, because I admire greatness, and he's a great player."

Rose scored 23 points, Richard Hamilton added 19 and Luol Deng netted 17.

The Bulls led 53-42 at the break and were never really threatened.

Elton Brand led Philly with 19 points and Jrue Holliday added 16.
