2012 NBA Playoffs

Cleveland, OH

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving will reportedly be named NBA's Rookie of the Year for the 2011-2012 regular-season, a source close to situation disclosed.

According to the source, Irving will officially be named the league's top rookie on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Irving became the fourth no.1 overall pick to receive the award in the past 10 years, joining the likes of Blake Griffin (2011), Derrick Rose (2008-2009), and former Cavs star LeBron James (2003-2004) in the elite circle.

Despite playing just 11 games in his only season with the Duke Blue Devils, Irving still averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 dimes, and 3.7 boards in 51 games. He also shot .469 percent from the field and .399 percent from three-point range in his first season as a professional.

Moreover, Irving bagged the MVP award in the Rookie-Sophomore game and established himself as the Cavs' franchise player in the second year following James' departure.
