Matt Moore was terrific in the American League Division Series opener, pitching the Tampa Bay Rays to a game one conquest by allowing just two hits and two walks over seven innings in a 9-0 rout of the Texas Rangers Friday.

While Rangers starter C.J. Wilson was knocked around for seven hits and eight runs over just five innings, his teammates could manage just a single and double, both off the bat of Josh Hamilton.

The Rays, who made playoffs on the last day of the regular season, lashed out 10 hits, including three from Shoppach who went yard twice and drove in five runs and Evan Longoria, who had two hits to continue his scorching play.

Shoppach homered in the third and fifth innings to add to the Rays' cushion.

Longoria homered twice vs. the Yanks in the regular season finale to help the Rays overcome a 7-0 deficit to win that contest and return to the postseason.

Johnny Damon drove in two runs and scored a pair as well, bashing a two-run homer in the second to get the Rays off to a strong start.

Brandon Gomes and Wade Davis finished off the Rangers with perfect work in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
