The Cowboys waited all year for another shot at the New York Giants. When they got it in the 2012 season opener, they were ready, winning 24-17 in a game that wasn't really that close

Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo completed 22 of his 29 passes for 307 yards with three TDs and the Dallas Cowboys opened up their 2012-2013 NFL campaign with a 24-17 victory over the reigning Super Bowl champion New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.

After failing to reach the postseason for two consecutive years, the Cowboys seem ready to make some noise this season.

Romo, repeatedly compared with Giants quarterback Eli Manning, hooked up with wideout Kevin Ogletree twice to spark the Cowboys to a resounding win against the Giants.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Giants drew first blood with a field goal conversion from Lawrence Tynes. Unfortunately for Giants fans, the Romo-Ogletree show preceded right after that.

With a minute left in the second quarter, Romo connected with Ogletree for a 10-yard TD pass to give the Cowboys a 7-3 edge at halftime. The Cowboys duo showed up again in the 10:24 mark of the third quarter with Romo finding Ogletree for a beautiful 40-yard TD play that silenced the crowd at MetLife Stadium.

Badly needing someone to stop their scoring drought, the Giants relied on their ground attack as Ahmad Bradshaw scored on a 10-yard rushing TD to cut the Cowboys lead by four, 14-10, in the third.

But Romo was just too sharp, connecting with Miles Austin on a 34-yard TD pass to put the icing on the cake for the Cowboys.

Manning completed a 9-yard TD pass to Martellus Bennett but time was not on their side as the defending champ absorbed defeat on opening night.

Manning threw 21-for-32 for 213 yard and a TD pass while wideout Victor Cruz covered 48 yards on 6 receptions.

Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee collected 12 tackles and Anthony Spencer added 7 tackles.
