Brian Hoyer hit tight end Jordan Cameron with a go-ahead touchdown pass with 51 seconds remaining as the Cleveland Browns defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 31-27, Sunday at Mall of America Field.
Starting in place of injured Brandon Weeden, Hoyer completed 30 of 55 passes for 321 yards and three touchdown passes but issued three interceptions to help the Browns (1-2) snap a two-game losing skid.
Cameron caught three touchdown passes - two from Hoyer and one from punter Spencer Lanning - to cap a 66-yard performance while Josh Gordon recorded 146 yards on 10 catches with a touchdown for the Browns.
Days after trading Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts, the Browns managed just 103 total ground yards, with Josh Aubrey leading the way with 34 yards.
Christian Ponder hit 25 of 42 passes for 228 yards and one interception. He also rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns while Adrian Peterson rushed for 88 yards on 25 carries and a score for the Vikings, who remained winless in three games.
Lanning extended the Browns' lead to 10 points, 24-14, with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Cameron at the 3:39 mark of the second quarter.
Initially, the Browns lined up to kick a field goal but Lanning got the ball from long-snapper Christian Yount and threw it to Cameron for the score.
Minnesota cut the deficit to seven points when kicker Blair Walsh converted a 43-yard field goal attempt at the break.
In the third, Ponder scored on an eight-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 24-all before Blair Walsh buried a 30-yard field goal to put the Vikings ahead, 27-24.
Then, Hoyer engineered an 11-play, 55-yard drive at the 3:21 mark of the fourth that he capped with a scoring pass to Cameron to win the game.
