Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick wasn't happy with the officials or the New York Giants defense after Sunday's game but he shouldn't wait for any apologies.

The Giants only sacked Vick once in their 29-16 victory but they hit and harrassed him multiple times, with Vick wondering aloud why the officials don't make late hit calls for him that he perceives other quarterbacks in the league as getting.

Vick left the game with what was thought to be a broken right hand but it turned out to be bruised, much like the rest of his body after the Giants were done with him.

"I don't think any of us have to apologize for the way we hit him," New York defensive end Dave Tollefson said. "I don't think we did anything cheap. I know he was upset, but everything to me looked like it was pretty clean."

In his comeback over the past three seasons, and especially last year, Vick has returned to one of the most dangerous and explosive offensive players in the league. But his risk-taking, athletic style of play leaves him vulnerable.

The hit that vick was most steemed about came from defensive tackle Chris Canty and on replay it appeared Canty hit Vick on the chin with the crown of his helmet. No penalty was called and Vick injured his hand while breaking his fall.

He has worked on becoming more of a pocket passer and has succeeded but even that is no fool-proof way to avoid injury. He suffered a concussion in Week 2 against Atlanta when he was spun into one of his own offenisve linemen after making a pass in the pocket.

The Eagles line also needs to improve so Vick might be better off discussing things with coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg than in venting about officials and opposing defenses.

"I understand his frustration," added defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka. "Nobody wants to get hit that many times. I just feel like if you're going to be the kind of guy who's going to be able to tuck the ball and run, once you put the ball away, they can't protect you as a quarterback anymore. You give that right up."
