49ers running back Frank Gore scored on a 12-yard run with three minutes left in the game to cap a second-half comeback and lead the San Francisco 49ers to a 24-23 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday afternoon.

Philadelphia led 23-3 in the third quarter, but the San Francisco quarterback Alex Smith threw a pair of touchdown passes, one of 30 yards to Josh Morgan and 9 yards to Vernon Davis to set up Gore's heroics.

The Eagles (1-3) were driving late but Justin Smith stripped the ball from Philadelphia receiver Jeremy Maclin, and Dashon Goldson recovered the fumble at the 49ers 31 with just over two minutes to play.

Gore, listed as questionable with an ankle injury, finished with 127 yards rushing.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick threw touchdown passes to Clay Harbor and LeSean McCoy and also ran for a team-high 75 yards.

The Eagles had 513 yards of offense but were unable to finish drives as rookie kicker Alex Henery had three field goals but missed from 39 and 33 yards in the fourth quarter to keep San Francisco in the game.

Niners kicker David Akers, a former Eagle, made one field goal but missed another and had another one blocked.
