Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo took two painkiller injections prior to Monday's game against the Washington Redskins and may need more Sunday to play against the undefeated Detroit Lions.

Speaking to reporters Thursday, Romo said he would wait until game time to decide whether or not to take more painkiller injections in Week 4.

"I would say this, there's a test that just goes, come over here (lightly tap his rib area) and see how hard you can do it until I feel it," Romo told ESPNDallas.com after Thursday's practice. "And if I feel it I'm going to need it."

Romo wore a protective vest against the Skins and led Dallas to an 18-16 win Monday night. The vest, which protects a rib fracture and punctured lung suffered in Week 2, did nothing to hinder his ability to throw the ball.

"It did a good job," he said of the vest. "I thought it was good, I thought it helped. I'm not sitting there constantly thinking about it, that's a good sign."

Romo is posting a 95.8 quarterback rating with four touchdowns and two interceptions in leading Dallas to a 2-1 record and a three-way tie atop the NFC East.
