NFL Football 2011 Week 3

Running back Darren Mc Fadden of the Oakland Raiders, linebacker Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens and kicker Rian Lindell of the Buffalo Bills are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the third week of the 2011 season (September 25-26).

AFC Players of the Week

OFFENSE: RB DARREN MC FADDEN, OAKLAND RAIDERS

McFadden rushed for 171 yards on 19 carries (9 average) with two touchdowns in a 34-24 win over the New York Jets.

McFadden's 171 rushing yards are the most in the NFL this season and his two rushing TDs tied for a league-best (RYAN MATHEWS, 2) in Week 3.

In the second quarter, McFadden registered a 70-yard touchdown run, the longest rushing TD of his career.

Through Week 3, McFadden leads the NFL with 393 rushing yards and is tied for a league-high with 477 scrimmage yards (WES WELKER, 477).

In his fourth season from Arkansas, this is McFadden's second career Offensive Player of the Week Award. He previously won the award in 2010 (Week 7).

DEFENSE: LB RAY LEWIS, BALTIMORE RAVENS

Lewis registered a team-high 10 tackles, one sack and forced a fumble in the Ravens' 37-7 win at St. Louis.

Lewis sacked Rams quarterback SAM BRADFORD and forced a fumble on the play, which was recovered by defensive tackle HALOTI NGATA for a 28-yard FR-TD.

Helped limit the Rams to 244 yards of total offense and was part of a defensive unit that recorded five sacks.

Lewis (39.5 sacks, 31 interceptions) needs a half-sack to become the first player in NFL history with 40 sacks and 30 INTs.

In his 16th season from Miami, this is Lewis' eighth career Defensive Player of the Week Award. He most recently won the award in 2008 (Week 10).

SPECIAL TEAMS: K RIAN LINDELL, BUFFALO BILLS

Lindell connected on a 28-yard game-winning field goal as time expired for a 34-31 win over the New England Patriots.

Lindell helped the Bills record their first win over the Patriots since September 7, 2003.

He now has 12 career game-winning field goals.

Lindell also connected on a 42-yard field goal to end the first half and made all four extra point attempts.

Through Week 3, Lindell is tied for second among AFC kickers with 29 points (NEIL RACKERS, 36; BILLY CUNDIFF, 29).

In his 12th season from Washington State, this is Lindell's third career Special Teams Player of the Week Award. He most recently won the award in 2009 (Week 2).

NFC Players of the Week

Quarterback ELI MANNING of the New York Giants, cornerback RONDE BARBER of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and rookie kicker DAN BAILEY of the Dallas Cowboys are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the third week of the 2011 season

OFFENSE: QB ELI MANNING, NEW YORK GIANTS

Eli Manning completed 16 of 23 passes (69.6 percent) for 254 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions for a 145.7 passer rating in the Giants' 29-16 win at Philadelphia.

His four touchdown passes tied his career high and it was the sixth four-TD game of his career.

Manning's passer rating of 145.7 was his single-game high (minimum 20 attempts).

The Giants entered the fourth quarter trailing 16-14, but Manning led two touchdown drives -- completing six of seven passes (85.7 percent) for 85 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 156.8 passer rating -- to give New York the victory.

Manning was the first Eagles opponent to throw for at least four touchdown passes in a victory at Philadelphia since 1989, when San Francisco's JOE MONTANA passed for five TDs.

In his eighth season from Mississippi, this is Manning's second career Player of the Week Award (Week 2, 2006).

Manning is the third quarterback in franchise history to win multiple Player of the Week Awards. He joins KERRY COLLINS (four) and PHIL SIMMS (two).

DEFENSE: CB RONDE BARBER, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Barber had an interception, a fumble recovery, four tackles and three passes defensed in the Buccaneers' 16-13 win over Atlanta.

He started his 186th consecutive game, the longest streak in NFL history by a cornerback, and notched his 41st interception. Barber is the only player in NFL history with at least 25 sacks (26) and 40 interceptions (41).

He was part of a defensive unit that allowed just 30 rushing yards. The Buccaneers recorded two forced fumbles, an interception and four sacks.

In his 15th year from Virginia, this is Barber's eighth career Player of the Week Award. He has won seven times on defense and once on special teams. This is his first award since he was named NFC Defensive Player of Week 12 in 2008.

Barber's eight Player of the Week Awards are the most in franchise history. Linebacker DERRICK BROOKS ranks second with six.

SPECIAL TEAMS: K DAN BAILEY, DALLAS COWBOYS

Bailey converted all six field-goal attempts, including the game-winning 40-yarder with 1:47 remaining in the Cowboys' 18-16 win over Washington.

He scored all of Dallas' 18 points and his six field goals tied for the most by a rookie in a single game -- GARO YEPREMIAN (1966) and JEFF REED (2002).

Bailey, an undrafted rookie free agent, had a 41-yard field goal in the first quarter and kicked two FGs in the second (27 and 32 yards). In the third quarter, he converted a 41-yarder and he finished the game with two more FGs in the fourth (23 and 40 yards).

In his rookie season from Oklahoma State, this is Bailey's first career Player of the Week Award.

Bailey is the first Cowboys kicker to be honored since Week 5, 2007 (NICK FOLK).

He is the third rookie kicker in franchise history to be named Special Teams Player of the Week, joining Folk and BILLY CUNDIFF (Week 4, 2002).
