NFL 2011 - Hamstring Injury Makes Texans Arian Foster Iffy for Opener
Arian Foster, Houston Texans

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster could sit out the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts due to a lingering hamstring injury.

Foster, who nabbed 66 receptions and rushed for 1,616 yards last season, will likely skip the Texan's season-opener against the Colts on September 11 after an MRI examination showed a mild to moderate strain in his right hamstring.

In an interview with ESPN, injury analyst Dr. Michael Kaplan said Foster's injury could be a Grade one to two strain.

"There's a fair amount of swelling and bleeding on the MRI. … It's going to be a couple weeks at least (before he can play). If you get him back to soon, he's at a high risk for re-rupture and you can't take that risk. … I think it's very unlikely (Foster is ready for Week 1)," Kaplan told ESPN Wednesday.

With this development, the Pro Bowl running could likely miss not only the Colts' game but perhaps the succeeding games vs. the Miami Dolphins on week 2, New Orleans on week 3 and Pittsburgh Steelers on week 4.

Still, Foster remains optimistic he will recover from the injury and contribute for the Texans.
