The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were ready to play their first preseason game Friday night. The Kansas City Chiefs were not.

Kansas City coach Todd Haley played his starting offense only one series and Matt Cassel never threw a pass.

For the Buccaneers, starting quarterback Josh Freeman and backup Josh Johnson had big games as the Bucs (1-0) scored an easy 25-0 victory over the Chiefs (0-1) at Arrowhead Stadium.

Freeman scored the game's first touchdown on a five-yard scramble with 10:35 left in the first quarter. The drive was set up by a fumble recovery at the Chiefs nine by Bucs' rookie middle linebacker Mason Foster.

Connor Barth put up a 25-yard field goal at the 4:24 mark to give the Bucs a 10-0 first quarter lead.

The Bucs got a 40-yard field goal from Barth at 6:09 in the second and picked up a safety when linebacker Dekoda Watson brought down Chiefs backup quarterback Tyler Palko in the end zone with 1:28 left in the first half.

Johnson, the backup to Freeman, hit Micheal Spurlock with a thre-yeard scoring toss at 6:13 of the third quarter to make it 22-0 and the final score came on Jacob Rogers' 46-yard field goal in the fourth.

The Bucs piled up 252 total yards to 137 for Kansas City. Freeman went nine-of-13 for 73 yards while Johnson went 7-for-12 for 108 and the TD. He also rushed for 57 yards.

Dez Briscoe had four catches for Tampa Bay for 60 yards.
