Legendary NFL linebacker Junior Seau, who starred mostly for the San Diego Chargers in a 12-year career, has reportedly been found dead inside his Oceanside, California home.

TMZ first reported the news and police are investigating a shooting at the residence.

FOX Sports is reporting he shot and killed himself with a bullet to the chest a day after leaving letters or electronic messages to his children.

Seau, who starred at Southern Cal and also for the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots, had three children and also left an ex-wife behind.

He was a 12-time Pro Bowler and 6-time First-Team All-Pro and known as a classy player and person who often gave his time and money to charitable foundations.
