Virginia Tech's incoming senior quarterback Logan Thomas has decided to continue playing college football, foregoing the chance to enter the NFL Draft for a year.

Thomas, who racked up 2,976 yards and 18 TDs this past season, will remain the signal-caller for an offense architected by newly hired offensive coordinator Scott Loeffler next season.

Thomas ranked as the no.1 quarterback going into the new season and was widely projected as a first-round draft pick in the 2013 NFL draft but the shifty signal-caller struggled mainly because of new supporting cast. He recorded 16 interceptions and completed just 51.3 percent of his passes.

Many NFL teams raved about Thomas 6-foot-6, 260-pound frame, which makes him an ideal quarterback for the physical pro league.

"I will be staying at Virginia Tech, returning for my senior year," Thomas said on ESPN's "College Football Live." "I think I have a lot to work on. I think we can get better. Leaving a program 7-6, especially a program like Virginia Tech -- we have a legacy of winning a lot of games -- kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I want to come back and have a better season this year."
