Anaheim, CA

Teemu Selanne scored the tie breaking power-play goal early in the third period and Jonas Hiller made 21 saves as the Anaheim Ducks topped the Detroit Red Wings 3-1.

The Ducks went ahead midway through the first period when Nick Bonino scored three seconds into a power play, tipping Cam Fowler's point shot past Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard for his first career playoff goal.

The Red Wings evened it later in the period with a power-play goal just four seconds after a two-man advantage expired, with Daniel Cleary getting credit for his 21st career playoff goal.

But Selanne put the Ducks back ahead after a scoreless second period.

The 42-year-old "Finnish Flash"received a pass and instantly flung a pinpoint wrister at the net, finding a small opening behind Howard.

Detroit pressed in the final minutes, but Francois Beauchemin's wrist shot from 165 feet, assisted by Ryan Getzlaf and Daniel Winnik, wrapped it up for an exceptional empty-net goal and a 3-1 lead.

Howard stopped 24 shots and the Red Wings played the Ducks evenly at full strength, but Anaheim's special-teams skill decided it.
