Andrew Shaw scored a pair of goals as the Chicago Blackhawks staved off elimination with a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinal at United Center.

It was Shaw's second multiple-goal game of his career with the first coming March 18, 2012, against the Washington Capitals.

Jonathan Toews netted his first tally of the playoffs while Bryan Bickell added his fourth as the Blackhawks cut the Red Wings' lead to 3-2.

Corey Crawford stopped 25 shots for the Blackhawks, who converted two of three power-play opportunities while the Red Wings came up empty in four chances.

Daniel Cleary scored his fourth playoff goal while Jimmy Howard recorded 41 saves for the Red Wings.

Bickell put the Blackhawks on the board with a goal at 14:08 of the opening period but Cleary tied at 9:37 of the second.

Crawford directed a Henrik Zetterberg shot toward the corner to his right but Cleary was able to put a rebound shot from a tight angle off Crawford's leg and in.

However, the Blackhawks regained the lead at 13:08 with their first power-play goal since Marian Hossa scored in the first period of Game 1 when Shaw deflected a point shot from Duncan Keith into the net for his first goal and point of the series.

Toews ended his offensive struggle in the playoffs when he finally broke through with his first playoff goal at 15:47.

Marian Hossa faked a shot and slipped the puck to Toews near the goal line to the left of Howard. Toews put a shot off Howard and under the crossbar to give the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead.

Shaw made it a 4-1 game with his second of the night when he collected a swatted shot by Viktor Stalberg and put it past Howard at 6:58 of the third period.
