Tiger Woods shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to win The Players Championship by two strokes at TPC Sawgrass.

After a double-bogey in the 14th, Woods birdied the 16th hole and saved par on the last two holes to beat David Lingmerth, Jeff Maggert and Kevin Streelman and win his fourth title of the year.

With the victory, Woods became the fifth player to win twice at TPC Sawgrass, joining Steve Elkington, Hal Sutton, Fred Couples and Davis Love III.

The win, Woods' 78th PGA Tour crown, extended his FedExCup points lead over Brandt Snedeker to 866 points.

"Each year I'm trying to get better," said Woods, who finished the tournament with a 13-under-par 275 to bag the $1,710,000 top purse. "So far this year, I'm off to a pretty good start."

Tiger credited caddie Joe LaCava for playing a big part of the win. LaCava caddied for Couples in both of his Players wins. "He did a hell of a job keeping me focused," said Woods.

Woods had a two-shot lead going into the 14th tee but found the water with his drive and suffered a double bogey, dropping him to a share of the lead with Sergio Garcia, Lingmerth and Maggert.

"Just hit absolutely the worst shot I could possibly hit," Woods said. "But it was the only bad swing I made all day. I told myself I could still win the tournament."

Luckily for Woods, Maggert fell off the pace with a double bogey on the 17th while Lingmerth suffered a bogey on the 14th.

Garcia also faltered with a quadruple bogey on the 17th hole and a double bogey on the 18th after finding the water, dropping him in a tie for 8th.

Lingmerth, Maggert and Streelman earned $709,333 while Martin Laird, Henrik Stenson and Ryan Palmer finished in a tie for fifth place, three strokes behind Woods.
