Autumn’s cooler days are nearing, and along with them comes a new season of trends and styles. Fashionable accessories are all you need to refresh the key basics already in your closet. Michelle Madhok, CEO of SheFinds.com, MomFinds.com and BrideFinds.com, shares her picks for the hottest fall shoes, bags and more, along with styling tips for how to make the trend your own.

1. Military Jacket

Seen on celebs like Rachel Bilson and Beyonce, a fitted army-green jacket is the must-have topper for fall. For the most flattering fit, go for a body-conscious cut and a single row of buttons, suggests Madhok. Many have a drawstring waist for a more form-fitting look. Pair it with a thin sweater and jeans for an unfussy errand-running look, says Madhok. Or toss one over a sundress and tights to extend the life of a favorite summer piece.

2. Cutout Booties

When it’s time to buy a new pair of kicks for the season, pick a pair of ankle-grazing black booties with small eye-catching cutouts at the toe. During the day, wear them with perfectly painted toes. For the office, pair them with black tights to camouflage the detail. For a weekend night on the town, wear the booties over bright tights, like pink or purple, recommends Madhok.

3. Mixed-Media Necklace

The statement necklace of seasons’ past is still hot news; it’s a simple way turn a plain tee or understated sweater into something special. The substantial necklaces also instantly infuse style to a simple blazer, slacks and cami combo, says Madhok. For an updated look, opt for a necklace that’s made out of a mix of materials -- silver, gold, beads, wood, rhinestones or all of the above. Cost-saving bonus: Mixed-media pieces can look more expensive than they actually are.

4. Sparkly Flats

A little embellishment on a plain pair of flats can go a long way to amplify a black dress or simple pair of pants or jeans, says Madhok. Choose bright sequins to offset an all-black wardrobe, or solid flats with a rhinestone jewel to dress up an otherwise everyday work outfit.

5. Fur-Detail Purse

Go real or go faux, but fall’s must-have bag is embellished with fur. An all-fur clutch can make an evening outfit look luxuriously cozy, and a shearling-lined satchel doubles as a work tote or a weekend bag for a leaf-peeping getaway in the mountains.
