Fall is coming, but don’t pack away the sunscreen. Those cooler days when the sun is shining also require a layer of skin protection. Fortunately, there are more appealing ways to incorporate sunscreen into your beauty routine than slathering on a goopy layer of lotion. My goal when I hit the streets is to maximize broad-spectrum protection and minimize the greasy, oily skin.

After some trial and error, I’ve finally found some secrets:

Use a fine mist spray

The formula is lightweight and a cinch to apply. A lot of brands also feature cooling technology that offers an immediate refreshing sensation while imparting full-spectrum protection.

Mix it with your makeup

Combining your sunscreen with a lightweight foundation, tinted moisturizer or daytime lotion can amp up absorption.

Try baby brands

A friend of mine swears by her newborn’s SPF lotions. Gentle, fragrance-free formulas are mild enough for even the most sensitive skin while offering powerful protection.

Switch to powders

Talk about convenience! Pick a sun-blocker and powder combo in one applicator brush and you’ll get coverage and color. It’s a perfect freshen-up option when you need a quick hit of protection before running out for lunch or errands.
