Amber Katz
Carefree, tousled texture is totally in, praise the beauty gods -- likely a byproduct of all the '80s fashions that are currently back in style. We love this morning-after 'do because it's, above all, easy. Not only is the texture unstructured and haphazard, it actually looks best on unwashed hair -- second-day locks are the best canvas for this look.
Step No. 1:
To achieve textured waves, start by sectioning your hair, starting at the bottom.
Step No. 2:
Working in 2-inch sections, spray hair with a wave spray before you curl it.
Step No. 3:
Twist the length of a section before you wind that twisted section around a curling iron without a clamp, or use a regular iron without opening it. A clamp doesn't produce a carefree effect, it creates prom hair.
Step No. 4:
After you've curled the entire length of your hair, finger-comb through the waves to break them up, then apply another misting of spray all over the head.
Step 5:
Spritz a little dry shampoo at the roots for a more matte, imperfect texture, and you're all set.
