Skin Care Resolutions

The beginning of a new year is always a good time to take stock of one’s life and look toward the future in a positive way.

While diet and exercise resolutions are a challenge to keep, here are some nearly effortless ways to take care of your skin throughout the year.

1. Wash your face before bedtime

Are you super-busy and just too tired to move at the end of the day? Your skin feels exactly the same after a day of makeup, stress and pollution. While you sleep, your skin cells repair themselves so your skin can function properly in the a.m. Wash off the impurities of the day, and your skin will thank you by looking fresh and radiant when you wake up!

2. Wear sunscreen every day

As a busy facialist, the biggest complaints I hear from clients about their skin all have one source: the sun. Lines and wrinkles, sunspots and loss of elasticity are all the result of sun exposure. So do yourself a favor and wear an SPF daily. I use an organic mineral sunscreen in the form of a translucent powder -- I can use it over my makeup or wear it alone, and it protects my skin against damage -- even as I drive to work in the morning!

3. Drink a green juice

We all lead busy lives, and sometimes we don't have time to sit down and eat a proper meal. So juicing is a great way to get your greens … and then some. Greens help oxygenate your skin while giving your whole body vital energy to get through a busy day. Grab some juice packed with green vegetables; try it for a week and feel the difference!
