Bright eye shadow, big hair and shoulder pads are only a few of the ’80s trends that are coming “back to the future” -- and A-list celebs are the first to cut “footloose.”

Rihanna changes her look almost daily, but her short, asymmetrical haircuts with chunky highlights are a constant; Lady Gaga could be the love child of Boy George and Cindy Lauper; and even January Jones, best known for her prim-and-proper looks on “Mad Men,” experimented with punk-inspired blue eye shadow that extended beyond her brows at this year’s Met Gala.

You don’t have to start wearing spikes, side ponytails or leg warmers to test out the ’80s trends. Try one of these tips for your own ’80s homage:

1. Wear teal eye shadow

Sweep it over your lids for a casual look, or add black eyeliner for more intensity and drama.

2. Tease your hair

The half-up pompadour was as ubiquitous as Members Only jackets back in the ’80s. Take a cue from January by adding volume to the top, pulling the sides back and securing hair with a funky clip.

3. Wear bright lipstick

No lip color says ’80s like fuchsia does. Try lining your lips first with a similar shade so that the color is precise.

4. Cut some bangs or chunky layers

Remember that bangs are a lot of work and hair spray does wonders to keep them in place.

5. Wear big earrings, a miniskirt or an oversized off-the-shoulder top a la Flashdance

Or you can also sport some shoulder pads. Just don’t do it all at the same time!
