The founder of the Miami-area based clinic claimed that media reports connecting his business to distribution of performance-enhancing drugs to several baseball superstars are "inaccurate character assassination".

"I have been accused, tried and convicted in the media. And so I think have been falsely accused throughout the media," Tony Bosch told ESPN in his first interview since his Biogenesis clinic was involved in the scandal. "I've done nothing wrong."

Bosch also refused to comment regarding the connection of several big-game players, including Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Braun and Melky Cabrera to his clinic through documents and sources.

"I said no comment on any names. These are my clients. I am not going to divulge anything of my clients," said Bosch, who added that he was advised by his attorney not to answer any questions about the players.

Earlier, sources told ESPN's "Outside the Lines" that Bosch helped provide banned substances to possibly dozens of athletes and even injected Rodriguez with testosterone and human growth hormone at his Miami home several times

Aside from Rodriguez, Cabrera and Braun, Washington Nationals ace Gio Gonzalez was earlier connected to the clinic but two sources said Gonzalez did not receive banned substances.

Major League Baseball is also investigating New York Yankees star Robinson Cano after his foundation's spokeswoman, Sonia Cruz, was listed in documents as having been a Biogenesis client.

MLB has filed a lawsuit against Bosch, claiming that he interfered with the game's business. Aside from that, he is also the focus of a Florida Department of Health investigation involving allegations that he practiced medicine without a license.

"We've tried to reach out to Mr. Bosch directly and through his attorneys for months and have received no response," MLB executive VP Rob Manfred said in response to Bosch's statement.

"We've been trying to serve process [for MLB's lawsuit] on him for a number of weeks. Unsuccessfully," he added.

Manfred said he's willing to meet with Bosch anytime in any place of his choice to discuss matters.
