Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, Colts linebacker Robert Mathis and Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski are the AFC Players of the Month for October

Offense: QB Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

For the month, Dalton completed 89 of 131 passes (67.9 percent) for 1,246 yards with 11 touchdowns versus three interceptions and a 116.8 passer rating as he helped the Bengals to a 4-0 record in October.

In October, Dalton ranked third in the NFL in passing yards (1,246) and second in the league in touchdown passes (11) and passer rating (116.8).

Through Week 8, Dalton ranks second in the AFC in passing yards (2,249) and touchdown passes (16).

In Week 6, Dalton earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, completing 26 of 40 passes (65 percent) for 337 yards with three touchdowns versus one interception and a 105.9 passer rating in the Bengals' 27-24 overtime win at Buffalo.

In Week 7, Dalton completed 24 of 34 passes (70.6 percent) for 372 yards with three touchdowns versus zero interceptions and a career-high 135.9 passer rating in the Bengals' 27-24 win at Detroit.

In Week 8, Dalton threw a career-best five touchdown passes in the Bengals' 49-9 win over the New York Jets.

In his third season from Texas Christian, this is Dalton's first career Offensive Player of the Month Award.

He is the first Bengals' quarterback to win the award since CARSON PALMER in 2005 (September).

Defense: LB Robert Mathis, Indianapolis Colts

Mathis totaled 13 tackles, four sacks, one pass defensed, forced two fumbles and recorded a safety as he helped the Colts to a 2-1 record in October.

Mathis helped the Colts defeat two previously undefeated teams in October (Seattle and Denver).

In Week 5, Mathis posted six tackles, two sacks and forced one fumble in the Colts' 34-28 win over Seattle. He became the 30th player to record 100 career sacks since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

In Week 7, Mathis recorded five tackles, two sacks and forced one fumble in the Colts' 39-33 victory over Denver on Sunday Night Football.

Through Week 8, Mathis leads the NFL with 11.5 sacks.

In his 11th season from Alabama A&M, this is Mathis' third career Player of the Month Award, tied with DWIGHT FREENEY for the most Defensive Player of the Month awards by a Colts player. He most recently won the award in 2010 (September).

Special Teams: K Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots

For the month, Gostkowski made all nine field goals he attempted.

Gostkowski tied for third in the NFL and second in the AFC with nine field goals in October.

He totaled 36 of the Patriots' 90 points for the month.

Through Week 8, Gostkowski has made an NFL-best 20 field goals.

Gostkowski ranks second in the NFL with 77 points this season (MATT PRATER, 79).

Has made 15 consecutive field goals, including two from 50+ yards (53, 54).

In his eighth season from Memphis, this is Gostkowski's second career Player of the Month Award. He previously won the award in 2008 (October).
