Seattle, WA

The Seattle Seahawks have claimed rookie quarterback B.J. Daniels off waivers.

To make room, the Seahawks released rookie linebacker John Lotulelei.

The 49ers seventh-round draft pick, Daniels is now the Seahawks third quarterback, with apparently no chance of unsettling starter Russell Wilson or backup Tarvaris Jackson soon.

The 5-11 Daniels impressed some in San Francisco with his arm strength and instincts. He completed 62 percent of his passes in the preseason and threw three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The 49ers intended to sign Daniels to their practice squad. The team cut him in favor of John Skelton, believing the veteran quarterback's experience would benefit the 53-man roster more at this point.

"We have a plan for him," Harbaugh said of Daniels before Seattle's claim.

Before the season, it was the other way around with the 49ers adding receiver Chris Harper, a fourth-round draft pick, whom the Seahawks released with intention of adding to the practice squad.
