Best Hair and Makeup Trends at the Golden Globes

The Golden Globes serve as the unofficial kickoff to Awards Season and set the tone for red-carpet trends.

Here are the looks that reigned supreme this year:

Ballet-inspired Updos

While updos are a staple at awards shows for the simple way they complement gorgeous gowns and million-dollar jewels, this year’s styles were chic and sleek -- not messy and undone. Classic chignons and twists -- as seen on Claire Danes, Emma Stone and Natalie Portman -- gave a nod to Portman’s award-winning movie, Black Swan.

Natural Lips

Nude was the lip color of the night. Eva Longoria, Melissa Leo, Julie Bowen and Jennifer Love Hewitt opted for nude hues.

Full Fringe

Long, blunt bangs were seen on celebrities of all ages, including Sarah Hyland, Olivia Wilde and Sandra Bullock.

Bright Pink Lipstick

While some A-listers opted for natural lips, others explored the other end of the spectrum with bright pink lips. Natalie Portman and Julia Stiles experimented with the fresh color.

Peachy Glows

Michelle Williams and Emma Stone tinted their eyes, lips and cheeks with peach-toned makeup. The shade doesn’t just blend well with their fair complexions and blond hair; it’s also flirty and youthful.
