Republican nominee Mitt Romney conceded the presidential race to incumbent Barack Obama and gave a brief address to his supporters in Boston early Wednesday.

Both Romney and Obama have spoken on the phone where the former Massachusetts governor congratulated the president for winning a second term. Romney reportedly made his concession speech at a Boston hotel.

In his speech, Romney said he will pray for the success of the president in guiding the nation.

Romney also thanked his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan, who will keep his seat in Congress, and his wife, Ann.

He then said that Ann would have been a wonderful first lady and she was like that to him and their family.

The Republican hopeful was actually not prepared to concede yet after TV networks had projected Obama's reelection shortly after 11:00 PM Eastern.

Even on Election Day, Romney went on a last-minute campaigning in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The Romney camp's polling in Ohio reportedly showed that the president was ahead by two points in the state in the final day of the campaign.

Ohio has been considered a bellwether of the presidential race as no candidate has won the White House without capturing the Buckeye State's 18 electoral votes.
