Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics Preview French Cyclist Jeannie Longo Competes in Her 7th Olympics

For French Cyclist Jeannie Longo the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics will be her seventh time competing in the Olympics. Even though she's almost a half-century old (born October 31, 1958), Longo is still setting her sights high.

Jeannie Longo is considered the greatest female cyclist of all time.

She is famous for her competitive nature and her longevity in a sport where some of her competitors were not yet born during her first Olympic competition in 1984. The French cyclist, says that the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics may not be her last Olympics and is planning to compete in the 2012 London Summer Olympics.

She has been selected to compete for France in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, her seventh Olympic Games.

 

During her career she has won 13 world titles, as well as four Olympic Games medals; with silver medals in the 1992 Barcelona, Spain road race and 1996 time trial, a bronze in the Sydney Olympic Games time trail in 2000 joining her gold from Atlanta.

She competes both in road and track bicycle racing events, and is an Olympic gold-medalist and twelve-time world champion. Her achievements include:
