Angelina Jolie is returning to the big screen in her first major acting role in years. The Oscar-winning actress stars in "Maleficent," portraying the villainess title character.

Based on the 1959 animated movie "Sleeping Beauty," the film recounts the untold story of one of Disney's most popular characters. Jolie said her children encouraged her to take the role and literally helped her find her voice.

Angelina Jolie: "I thought about my children of course with this and as soon as I got the script, I gathered them around and told them the truth and I wanted to see if it would stick and how they would react to it. And they had such a strong reaction to it, it really touched me. And as I created her I kept running things by them, her voice and things. So a lot of it is for my kids."

"Maleficent" also stars Elle Fanning, as the innocent and angelical Sleeping Beauty
