Ryan Tannehill went out a winner as Texas A&M posted a 33-22 victory over Northwestern in the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

Tannehill threw for 329 yards and a touchdown for the Aggies (7-6), who were playing their final game as a member of the Big 12 before moving to the SEC next season.

Tannehill connected with Jeff Fuller seven times for 119 yards and a score and Ben Malena rushed for 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Texas A&M.

Playing under interim coach Tim DeRuyter with new coach Kevin Sumlin watching from the press box, Texas A&M got after it on defense and sacked Northwestern quarterbacks Dan Persa and Kain Colter eight times.

The Aggies took a 20-7 lead at the half and led 30-7 entering the fourth before the Wildcats fought back.

Northwestern (6-7) scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth to pull within 30-22, but Tannehill led the Aggies to a field goal late to ice the game.

Northwestern has not won a bowl game since the 1949 Rose Bowl and has lost nine bowl games in a row overall, matching the NCAA record.
