Dan Herron ran for 113 yards and a touchdown to lead Ohio State to a 17-7 victory over Illinois in a Big Ten Conference matchup Saturday.

The Buckeyes (4-3, 1-2 Big Ten) snapped a two-game losing streak and handed Illinois (6-1, 2-1 Big Ten) its first loss of the season.

Ohio State has had its way with Illinois for a while, winning the last nine meetings.

Herron had to sit out the first six games of the season due to suspensions but got right back into the act. He had 70 of his yards in the first half and helped Ohio State rack up 208 yards on the ground.

Herron scored on a 12-yard run in the third quarter to give the Buckeyes a 10-0 lead.

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller had just one completion, but it was a big one as he hooked up with Jake Stoneburner for a 17-yard touchdown to make it 17-0.

Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase hit tight end Evan Wilson for a 3-yard touchdown pass with 7:03 to play in the game for the Illini's only score.
