Former Syracuse assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine will avoid facing charges over sex-abuse allegations brought by a pair of ex-ballboys for the program.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick indicated he won't pursue the matter due to expired statute of limitations.

He also said the alleged victims appeared to be believable with their statements.

"On almost every single criteria, Bobby Davis came out as a credible person," the district attorney said of allegations made against Fine. "Mike Lang also comes across as a credible person."

He asked for the public to stop calling for the resignations of head basketball coach Jim Boeheim and Syracuse chancellor Nancy Cantor.

He placed any and all blame for the matter squarely on Fine.
