Denver, CO
The Colorado Rockies added some veteran help, signing outfielder Michael Cuddyer to a three-year, $31 million deal.
Drafted in the first round of the 1997 MLB Draft, Cuddyer played his entire career for the Minnesota Twins before becoming dispensable with the signing of Josh Willingham (three-year, $21 million deal).
With Cuddyer's arrival, the Rockies acquired a .272 lifetime hitter with 141 homers, 580 RBI, and 1,106 hits over 10 seasons.
Cuddyer, who has the ability to play all position except catcher and shortstop, gives the Rockies flexibility and serves as a solid backup for Todd Helton.
Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd also believes Cuddyer will be a factor as a positive force in the team's clubhouse.
Cuddyer appeared in his first All-Star game last season and finished the season with a batting average of .284 with 20 homers and 70 RBI.
