It appears that the Baltimore Orioles are about to name Dan Duquette their new general manager.

Formerly the general manager of the Expos and Red Sox, Duquette interviewed with Baltimore Friday and then was headed back to meet with principal owner Peter Angelos Saturday afternoon.

Various sources have confirmed that Duquette is the favorite to land the job vacated by Andy MacPhail.

While with Boston, Duquette made several key deals, including bringing ace Pedro Martinez to the Red Sox.

Baltimore reportedly offered the job to Toronto Blue Jays assistant GM Tony LeCava, wh declined the job.

The Orioles are coming off the latest in a string of rough seasons, finishing last in the American League East with a 69-93 record.
