Holding On: Giants End Justin Tuck Blasts Steelers Linemen

East Rutherford, NJ

The Steelers have been benefiting from incorrect calls, insists Giants' Justin Tuck.

The defensive end was complaining about excessive holding, saying the Steelers "have gotten away with murder" in protecting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Three weeks ago, it was Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride complaining about officiating.

He said San Francisco defensive end Justin Smith never gets called for "grabbing a hold of offensive linemen and allowing those twists to take place". He added that Smith "sometimes gets away with murder".

The Giants then beat the 49ers, 26-3.

Niners coach Jim Harbaugh noted that the Giants coaching staff is using their high visibility to both criticize and influence officiating.

ESPN NFL analyst Herm Edwards agrees with Harbaugh that the Giants were trying to influence officials.

He suggested the Steelers-Giants game be moved to a neutral site and is surprised that the league hasn't stepped in.

But Tuck was complimentary of Roethlisberger overall. He praised Roethlisberger ability to prolong plays even with opponents hanging off of him.

"He is the reason why they are so successful in their offense," Tuck said.
