>New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan defended his decision to stick with quarterback Mark Sanchez rather than insert backup Tim Tebow during the team's 27-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Tebow and the team's Wildcat offense were not utilized until the 8:39 mark of the third quarter. Tebow immediately ran for 22 yards but was pulled out after three plays for Sanchez, who then threw two straight incomplete passes, with the Jets behind by 10 points.

"Does that mean, given the exact scenario against a different opponent, we may or may not use (the Wildcat)? That'll be up to us," Ryan said. "We'll always do what we think is in the best interest of our football team."

Ryan said he decided to bring Sanchez back because gave the team the best chance to be successful in that particular situation and not that he doesn't trust Tebow's passing ability.

"Right now, we think Mark gives us the best chance to be successful in that particular situation against that particular opponent," Ryan said. "Those are things we'll always look at, but I believe Tim can pass. We'll make the decision on when a guy's out there and when he's not out there."

Ryan said he was planning to use some Wildcat against the Steelers and he did after Sanchez had a string of bad passes in the third quarter.

Making the most out of the rare playing time, Tebow raced to 22-yard run and handed off to Joe McKnight for a 12-yard gain to give the Jets some momentum. But Shonn Greene was dropped for a six-yard loss before Ryan pulled out Tebow for Sanchez.

"No, it's not frustrating. I just go in when they tell me and try to do the best I can. It all depends on how the game is going," said Tebow, who has appeared in only 12 offensive plays, including 11 behind center and one as an H-Back.
