Phil Dawson made a pair of long field goals to lift the Cleveland Browns to a 6-3 victory over the Seattle Seahawks Sunday.

Dawson, ball possession and tough defense were enough for the Browns to even their record at 3-3. Cleveland had nearly 43 minutes of possession time but was never able to put the ball in the end zone.

That's where the veteran kicker came in as he booted field goals of 52 and 53 yards.

Montario Hardesty got the start at running back in place of an injured Peyton Hillis and picked up 95 yards on 33 carries.

Cleveland took adantage of a Seattle fumble near midfield in the second quarter and got a break when the Seahawks were called for offsides on 4th down. The Browns picked up just enough yards for Dawson to kick his first field goal of the day to make it 3-0.

Dawson struck again in the fourth as he kicked a 53-yarder to cap an 11-play, 48-yard drive to give the Browns a 6-3 edge.

Charlie Whitehurst started for Seattle (2-4) at quarterback in place of the injured Tarvaris Jackson and completed just 12 of 30 passes for 97 yards and an interception.

Seattle tied the game, 3-3, late in the third on a 20-yard field goal by Steven Hauschka.
