Star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw 12-for-23 for 200 yards with one touchdown and the Pittsburgh Steelers held on for a 17-13 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday at Heinz Field.

Ahead two touchdowns in the first half, the Steelers (4-2) leaned on their defense late to capture their fourth victory of the season.

Coming off a five touchdown performance against the Tennessee Titans last week, Roethlisberger struggled to orchestrate the Steelers passing game against the Jaguars but made enough plays to win.

Roethlisberger hooked up with wide receiver Mike Wallace for a 28-yard touchdown that padded the Steelers lead to 14-0 in the 13:40 mark of the second quarter.

Trailing 17-3 at the end of the first half, the Jaguars immediately narrowed down the deficit with quarterback Blaine Gabbert's 18-yard touchdown pass to wideout Jason Hill in the 01:46 mark of the third.

The Jaguars even moved within striking distance after kicker Josh Scobee successfully converted a 45-yard field goal conversion in the 4:17 mark of the fourth.

However with the game on the line, the Steelers defensive unit stood up to the occasion and shutdown the Jaguars for good.

All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu, who has been the heart and soul of the Steelers defense, was taken out in the fourth quarter after experiencing concussion-like symptoms.

Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall provided the early spark for his team with an 8-yard TD run in the 4:23 mark of the first. He covered 146 yards on 23 carries for the game.

Gabbert went 12-for-26 for 109 yards with a score, while running back Maurice Jones-Drew covered 96 yards on 22 carries for the slipping Jaguars (1-5).
