Kicker Sebastian Janikowski booted a 36-yard field goal, giving the Oakland Raiders a hard-earned 16-13 overtime victory against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Raiders kept their playoff dreams alive as quarterback Carlson Palmer threw 16-for-26 for 237 yards and a touchdown and came through with the key drive that set up Janikowski's winning field goal at the 12:47 mark of the overtime period.

Janikowski, who already converted 24 field goals this season, helped lift the Raiders into a tie with the Denver Broncos on top of the AFC West.

Kyle Orton covered 300 yards on 21-of-36 pass attempts and tossed the game-tying touchdown pass to wideout Dwayne Bowe with 01:02 left in the fourth period but it was not enough to give the Chiefs their first back-to-back wins since October.

Raiders wideout Denarius Moore had four receptions for 94 yards, while safety Matt Giordano was relentless on defense end with 10 tackles.

The Raiders (8-7) are set to face San Diego next Sunday for a chance at clinching a playoff spot.

The Chiefs (6-9) look to close their disappointing season on a decent note when they battle the sliding Broncos (8-7), who just absorbed their second consecutive loss against the Buffalo Bills, 40-14, Saturday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
