NY, NY
New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs and New York Jets coach Rex Ryan didn't exactly exchange gifts when they met up following the G-Men's decisive 29-14 victory Saturday. Jacobs demanded respect for "Big Blue", while Ryan still predicted "Gang Green" will win the Super Bowl.
"I told him out of all of these Giant players on this football team, you're talking to the wrong one ... you need to shut up," Jacobs said of Rex Ryan, according to the New York Post. "He's a great coach, and I take nothing away from him. Comes from a great coaching family, but he just needs to shut up."
Ryan, front and center for his team all week in saying the Jets were better than their Big Apple rival, was still "fiesty" after the game, according to Jacobs: "I know he told me, 'Shut the F up. Wait 'til we win the Super Bowl.'"
Ryan was certainly humble in the post-game press conference as his team now needs help in order to make the postseason following two losing trips to the AFC title game. He admitted he was wrong and said the Giants were the better team.
Jacobs said he and his teammates were prepared for "Rex to be Rex" as he prepared the Jets for the emotional battle.
"We didn't really pay attention to it, to be honest with you, 'cause we knew that's what we were gonna get. ... No matter what happened, we knew that's what we were gonna get as soon as he had an opportunity to run his big fat mouth. We knew that."
Now Ryan and the Jets face a Blue Christmas, at least in terms of football.
