Quarterback Colt McCoy told reporters he wants to stay behind center with the Cleveland Browns, though he understands that won't be entirely up to him.

McCoy is expected to miss his third straight start Sunday due to a concussion when the Browns take on the Bills, but said he would like another chance next season.

"Well, I think right now, throughout the year, you talk and you go over things, and it has been really positive and really good," McCoy told reporters. "But I think, at this point, our team's focus is on finishing strong. Our team's focus is on beating Pittsburgh, and my focus is getting healthy and doing everything I can to be able to contribute this weekend, and then I think those talks will come at the end of the season."

He said he's not sure how the situation will turn out, but expects to be reviewed following the season.

"It's unfortunate that I wasn't able to play these last two games, but I think that's a question you can ask [coach] Pat [Shurmur] or [General Manager] Tom [Heckert] or [President] Mike [Holmgren]," McCoy said. "Anytime you go through a season like this, every person is going to get evaluated, including me, the quarterback. I think that's the right way to go about things.

The second year quarterback threw for 2,733 yards and 14 touchdowns with 11 interceptions in 13 games this season.

McCoy Likely Out of Season Finale against Pittsburgh

Browns quarterback Colt McCoy's season is done due to a concussion.

Speaking for the first time since he was diagnosed with a concussion sustained on Dec. 8 from a helmet-to-helmet hit by Steelers linebacker James Harrison, McCoy praised the Cleveland medical staff and spoke of his desire to play for the Browns.

What McCoy wouldn't talk much about was what he recalls from the hit or what happened afterward.

McCoy has not been medically cleared to practice but did praise Cleveland's medical staff for its handling of his concussion. This despite the fact that he was not tested for a head injury on the sideline by the team and being put back in the game after sitting out only two plays.

"Our medical staff does an outstanding job and that should never be in question," said McCoy.

The Browns were criticized for their handling of McCoy's concussion and the NFL sent a medical team to Cleveland to meet with the Browns. The meetings led to the league instituting a change in its game-day policy on injuries as teams must have a certified athletic trainer in the press box to monitor play and provide medical staffs with information to help them assist injured players.

As for his future in Cleveland, McCoy spoke glowingly of the city and wants to remain a Brown.

There is speculation by some that the Browns will look for a quarterback in the draft while other believe McCoy needs more playmakers to effectively run coach Pat Shurmur's West Coast offense.

McCoy expects to be evaluated in the offseason by Shurmur, general manager Tom Heckert and president Mike Holmgren like the rest of the Browns roster.

"There's two things I can control. One, I can control how hard I work, how hard I prepare; and the second one is I can control how I feel," McCoy said. "I want to be here. I love this city. I love my teammates. I'll do anything. I want to be here, so after that ... speculation has never gotten me anywhere. I'm a factual guy. That's all I've got."

Shurmur would not get into specifics about what symptoms McCoy is still experiencing.

"He's been good," Shurmur said. "He's anxious to get out there and play, but he realizes there's a process he has to go through. He's like any player who wants to compete. He looks fine. I don't ask him every moment how he's feeling."
