The Boston Celtics have traded guard Leandro Barbosa and center Jason Collins for third-year guard Jordan Crawford from the Washington Wizards, according to sources.

The Celtics need a playmaker after superstar Rajon Rondo went down with a torn ACL in January. Barbosa, who saw significant playing time with Rondo out, also suffered an ACL injury earlier this month that ended his season.

Initial reports said that the Celtics would be trading just Barbosa for Crawford but Collins was included in the deal just after the 3 p.m. deadline.

Collins has averaged 1.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in just over 10 minutes per game for the Celtics this season.

The 24-year-old Crawford, the 27th pick in the 2010 draft, has averaged 13.4 points, 3.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds over 26.2 minutes per game for his career.

Crawford is averaging 13.2 points, 3.7 assists and 3.1 rebounds over 26.2 minutes per contest this season. He started 12 of Washington's 52 games but his playing time decreased since the return of John Wall.

Earlier, it was reported that the Celtics and Wizards were discussing a deal centered on a Crawford swap for rookie Fab Melo, but it failed to materialize as Boston views Melo as a long-term project.
